Supply & Delivery of Furniture: Lot 1A

1. This Invitation to Bid (IFB) follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared in the UN Development
Business online on 1st July 2009.

2. The Government of the Republic of Uganda, acting through the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Education and Sports (hereinafter referred to as the “Purchaser”) has received a Loan from the African Development Fund in various currencies towards the cost of “Uganda Post-Primary Education & Training Expansion and Improvement Project (ADB Education IV)” and it is intended that part of the proceeds of this Loan will be applied to eligible payments under the contract to be issued from the present Invitation for Bids.

3. The Purchaser now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the Supply & Delivery of Furniture to 10 Seed Secondary
Schools for Expansion and 5 New Seed Secondary Schools. The Tender is under One lot as follows: -

4. Bidding is open to all qualified bidders as defined in the ADB’s Rules and Procedures for the Procurement of Goods and
Works (November 2008 edition). Eligibility for suppliers, contractors and consultants by country of origin is not a requirement. All countries are eligible.

5. Bidding Documents (and additional copies) may be purchased from the following address, upon payment of a non-refundable fee of UGX 100,000= (One Hundred Thousand Uganda Shillings Only).

6. Bids shall be valid for a period of 120 days after the deadline of submission and must be accompanied by a Bid Security in the amount indicated below:-

USD 10,000 (United States Dollars Ten Thousand Only) and must be sealed and delivered clearly marked;
