Rwandan President Paul Kagame was Sunday night honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award when he officiated at a ceremony to recognise young successful Ugandans.
The winners, including New Vision’s Nigel Nassar, were picked from various fields including the media, music, arts, fashion and culture as well as leadership and governance.
The overall winner of the Achiever of the Year was Nelson Tugume. Each of the awards comes with both a plaque and money for the winner.
The ceremony held at the Commonwealth Speke Resort Munyonyo was attended by dignitaries, including President Yoweri Museveni, ministers, ambassadors and the Nabagereka, Sylvia Nagginda.
Olive Kigongo of the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce, who doubles as patron of Tetea Uganda – the organisers of the awards – also attended the function.
It was a night of glamour with performances from a live band, which entertained guests with various hits, including Kinyarwanda music.
Seemingly impressed, Kagame and his host, Museveni, tapped on their tables to the rhythm.
