UGANDA have beaten hosts and defending champions Tanzania 3-1 to book a place in the final of the 2011 CECAFA Tusker Cup and will play against Rwanda on Saturday.

They play Rwanda, who beat Sudan 2-1 in the other semifinal earlier. Uganda lost to the Tanzania at the same level last year.

In a sweet revenge of last year’s semifinal, Uganda Cranes beat the Kilimanjaro Stars on the eve of their 50th Independence Day on Friday -thanks to team Captain Andy Mwasigwa and; Emma Okwi header and Isaac Isinde penalty shot in extra time.

In a highly charged game, Uganda trailed 1-0 in the first half but resumed second half in full force to equalise and thus the extra time that eventually 2-1.

Earlier in the first half a defensive lapse involving Isaac Isinde had gifted the home boys with an easy goal by Mrisho Ngasa.

Team captain Andy Mwesigwa had headed in one of the 17 corner kicks Uganda got against two for Tanzania in the match 56th minute of play.

Ethiopian referee Bamlak Tasema appeared to lose grip of the game with controversial decisions that left Ugandan players Mike Serumagga and Godfrey Walusimbi flexing in protest.

Shaban Nditi headed off a would have been a free-header while Ngasa missed chances in extra time for Tanzania while Emma Okwi and Robert Ssentongo suffered the same for Uganda.
