The Pope appointed Msgr. Adrian Kivumbi Ddungu, a 38 year old teacher at Katigondo Seminary, Buddu as new Bishop of Masaka.

The Pope appointed Msgr. Adrian Kivumbi Ddungu, a 38 year old teacher at Katigondo Seminary, Buddu as new Bishop of Masaka.

He succeeds Dr. Joseph Kiwanuka, the Archbishop of Rubaga. Educated at Bukalasa and Katigondo Seminary, Msgr. Ddungu later went to Europe where he completed his studies in theology. He was awarded a degree in Theology in Rome and was ordained as priest in Rome in 1952.

In 1970, Uganda exported hides and skins valued at $3.8 m and today Uganda exports over 8,255 tonnes valued at $17,060,000 US dollars.
