E. S Mbaziira (DP Mityana) moved on adjustment in the Legislative Council (LEGCO) to express his disappointment about the ‘arbitrary arrest and enforced imprisonment of Rev Msgr. Joseph Sebayigga of Rubaga Cathedral after an interview with the Kabaka of Buganda.’

Describing the incident as one that created differences between   Lubiri and Rubaga Catholic Mission, Mbaziira said that as one who believed in the institution of Kabakaship he felt depressed to introduce the Kabaka’s name in such a motion.

He said that following the arrest several telephone conversations were exchanged between the Lubiri and Rubaga Mission seeking the release of Msgr. Sebayigga.

The catholic cleric did not return to the mission until very late. He had been invited for an interview with the Kabaka, but instead he was reportedly reprimanded about a pastoral letter written by the Archbishop of Rubaga, Dr. Joseph Kiwanuka.
