Fake gynecologist arrested

Police has arrested a man for allegedly posing as a gynecologist and examining women at Kabwohe Health Centre IV.

The OC CID Sheema district Winnie Tangwana said the suspect was arrested on November 9 2011. She identified him as Ibra Tayima from Sheema district in western Uganda.

She said Ibra sneaked into the maternity ward where he was found examining the private parts of a pregnant woman in labor.

An attendant to one of the pregnant women became suspicious and asked Tayima to identify himself. The suspect claimed he was a medical officer at the health centre.

However, staff at the health facility denied ever seeing him work as health worker at the facility.

This infuriated some patients and their attendants who mobbed over and beat him until he was rescued by the hospital staff who handed him over to police.

The health centre in-charge Dr. Johnson Kabwishwa said it was the second case of impersonation of health workers at the facility.
