Why I fell in love with her

Oct 14, 2011

The first day I met Barbie, we clashed terribly. I was this bad man from Kamwokya and she was this beautiful, born-again Christian girl and our ideologies were as far apart as can be.

Carol Kezaabu asked some men what first attracted them to the women they married

Shem Semambo (Wife Grace) Nile BreweriesWhen I first saw her, I was blown away by her stunning beauty; it is out of this world. She was reserved, but carried herself with such confidence.

Her smile is amazing and she has this unique sense of humour.

And as I got to know her better, I found out that she had a heart of gold and to date, these qualities remain. She is a great mother and a wonderful wife and companion.

Norbert Mao (Wife Naome)DP Presidential Candidate

We met at a graduation party in 1994 and Naome had a radiant personality, a warm smile and amazing voice that were hard to ignore. She was someone in whose company I immediately felt comfortable.

I had just lost an election and I was still licking my wounds and she accepted me for who I was.

There was an instant genuine friendship that developed between us.

She was always down to earth, with no airs and that really impressed me. I think I knew that she was the woman I wanted to be with for the rest of my life when she insisted that I meet her mother. I knew then that she too felt as strongly as I did.

Pastor Mark Kigozi (Wife Maureen)
Real Life Church
The first time I met Maureen, I immediately noticed her because of her sense of style; she was classy and fashionable and really good to look at. She was also very friendly.

I also liked the fact that she was ‘portable’ and of similar height to mine; I’m not attracted to ‘generous’ size. We connected immediately and worked well together. But above all she was a God-fearing womawoman and that sealed the deal for me.

Godfrey Nyakana (Wife Sarah Kizito)
LC3 Chairman and former professional boxer
I think that attraction is a process, but the first time that I met my wife Sarah, we were in Virginia in the US at an Afrigo Band do. I didn’t know who she was, but I thought she was good-looking and confident.

We were introduced, talked for a few minutes but then I didn’t see her again until eight months later. We met in Brussels and then she was coming to New York where I was staying and fortunately (for me) there were no hotels available so I offered her a place to stay. We started getting to know each other and the rest is history.

Captain Mike Mukula (Wife Gladys)
I fell in love with her the first time I saw her because of the way she carried herself. There was an instant attraction that I couldn’t deny.

Bobi Wine (Wife Barbie)
Artist
The first day I met Barbie, we clashed terribly. I was this bad man from Kamwokya and she was this beautiful, born-again Christian girl and our ideologies were as far apart as can be. We met when she was still in Bweranyangi Girls School and she was brought in as the best actress for a play I was acting in. I found her to be very intriguing because she was different from all the other girls I had ever met.

The argument made me want to get to know her better and I later realised I had fallen in love with this beautiful angel. We became best friends and she introduced me to her family. And next year I want to give her the wedding she deserves.
