SUSPECTS arrested in connection with the murder of renegade Col. Edson Muzoora on Friday applied for bail in the Kampala High Court.

Two of the suspects were charged with treason while four were charged with concealment of treason before the Buganda Road Magistrate Court in June.

Iddi Kibwama and Boniface Mumbere were charged with treason while Dr. Aggrey Byamukama, Abel Kazoora, Simon Matte and Esau Tugumisirize were charged with concealment of treason.

Mumbere and Matte applied for bail before Justice Lameck Mukasa through their lawyer Chris Bakiza.

Bakiza, however, told court he was withdrawing bail applications for other suspects, saying he would file them at a later date.

He submitted that Mumbere and Matte were first time offenders with fixed places of abode and had substantial sureties.

The state, however, objected to the bail application, arguing that investigations by the directorate of public prosecutions (DPP) were still ongoing.
