A Police officer attached Jinja Central Police Station has been arrested for allegedly uttering false academic transcripts. Joseph Balisanyuka, who is attached to the general crime squad, was arrested by operatives from the Police professional standards unit.

The south-eastern regional Police spokesperson, Samson Lubega, on Thursday said Balisanyuka was picked up from the Jinja Central Police Station.

“One of our officers has been arrested over alleged forgery of academic papers,” he said. It is alleged that in 2002 Balisanyuka acquired transcripts belonging to his brother-in-law in order to join the Police.

Balisanyuka’s real name is Shaban Lubale. The officer’s luck ran out after his wife reported him because he wanted to divorce her.

The officer, who is now at the rank of Police Inspector, wanted to divorce his wife, saying her education level was insufficient for his status.

The woman never completed her O’level.
