WORLD motorsport governing body, FIA president Jean Todt has commended Ugandan motorsport for surviving the global economic crisis.

“Like many other countries in Africa and elsewhere in the world the economic problem affected sports and you deserve respect for carrying on with the motorsport. Africa was one of the worst hit but you fought to come out of it,” Todt told a press conference in Kampala.

Todt who was flanked by Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) president George Kagimu and his Automobile Association of Uganda (AAU) counterpart John Mutenda pledged financial support to Uganda.

“AAU has been a strong member of FIA and we will support them,” Todt said.
