AMIDST football politics, running battles and eye catching football that characterized the start of the new season on Friday, FUFA has come out to defend its pride and maintain their stand.

FUFA has summoned the nine clubs that participated in the league they (FUFA) had suspended for disciplinary hearing today at FUFA house in Mengo.

FUFA wants URA, Express, Water, Maroons, Simba, Masaka, Police, Firemasters and UTODA to explain why they took part in the suspended league.

FUFA CEO Edgar Watson said in statement that disciplinary measures will be meted to those implicated for ignoring resolutions of a FUFA meeting with Jinja Declaration Committee and Uganda Super League.

One of the resolutions ordered all USL clubs to shun the league until its managers addressed FUFA demands in two weeks.

“Any club’s failure to turn up will not deter the committee to take decisions,” said Watson in the release.

Pressure group Save Our Soccer (SOS) is, meanwhile, back and plans to force out the FUFA boss through courts of law. The group in 2005 forced out Denis Obua to usher in Lawrence Mulindwa.

They have resurfaced accusing Mulindwa of ‘underhand’ methods in running football.

Aldrine Nsubuga, Dennis Mbidde and Fred Muwema said in a release yesterday that SOS is to take Mulindwa to court for disrupting football activities.

“We are opening criminal charges on Mulindwa, Moses Magogo and Sam Lwere for common nuisance, disruption of lawful activities of Uganda Super League and for crimes related to economic sabotage.”

SOS II has started action to make him bow to the beautiful game,” the release said in part.

In a related development, the impasse between FUFA and the USL could after all be caused by money.

According to USL chairman, Kavuma Kabenge FUFA has always wanted a share of the revenue that USL generates.
