The Police in Kibaale district are looking for man suspected to have killed his stepson and tortured his wife to near death, accusing her of failing to produce a child for him.

The suspect was identified as Edward Ssenjovu, 27, a resident of Mbamba village, Kyenzige sub-county in Kibaale. Ssenjovu allegedly killed the two-year-old boy only identified as Talemwa on Saturday night.

He also beat up his wife, deforming her face and breaking her right hand.

The wife, identified as Christine Kyansimire, 24, said Ssenjovu had been threatening to kill the child because he was not his father.

“He first hit the child with a big stick, killing him instantly before pouncing on me and breaking my hand. He then ran away thinking I was dead,” Kyansimire said.

She wondered how she could conceive and bear a child yet she had stayed with Ssenjovu for only six months.

The district Police commander, John Ojokuna Elatu, said the murder was reported by John Sunday, 42, a businessman of Kyenzige trading centre.
