THE Indian community has contributed sh10m to the Prime Minister’s office under the disaster fund.

The move is aimed at ensuring that there are funds to meet Uganda’s disaster needs.

The contribution was made during a ceremony to mark the India Day 2011 at Lugogo Cricket Oval where the Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi, was the chief guest.

Announcement of the contribution was made by the chairman of the Indian Association, Shalendra Kundra.

Amama said the Government restored the rights of the Indians that were violated during the Idi Amin regime.

He added that the Government was open to value addition on investments from the Indian community.
