<b>Gulu court jails man for murder</b><br>Gulu High Court has sentenced Christopher Nyero, a resident of Alero sub-county in Amuru district, to 10 years in prison for murder. Justice Musalu Musene convicted Nyero last week.

Gulu High Court has sentenced Christopher Nyero, a resident of Alero sub-county in Amuru district, to 10 years in prison for murder. Justice Musalu Musene convicted Nyero last week. Nyero reportedly stabbed his friend Santo Obal with a knife after accusing him of refusing to pay back his sh1,500. Nyero committed the offence on October 29, 2010. The same court also sentenced Oscar Lumu, 30, to nine years in prison for killing his wife. Lumu, a resident of Amuru trading, centre killed his wife in April 2010 after suspecting her of infecting him with HIV.

Soldiers face arrest over theft
Two UPDF and two Police officers are facing arrest for allegedly conniving with some people at Karuma trading centre to break into a trailer carrying assorted goods worth sh180m. The truck, which was heading to Juba in South Sudan, plunged into River Nile while crossing Karuma Bridge on Monday. Kiryandongo district Police commander Patrick Byaruhanga said when the driver of the trailer lost control and it fell into River Nile at about 7:00pm, he deployed two Police constables and two UPDF soldiers to guard the goods.
