THE Commissioner General of Prisons, Dr. Johnson Byabashaija, has reshuffled top Prisons officials, making 12 new appointments, nine transfers and granting leave to six officers.

Byabashaija told New Vision that the Prison Act, restricts prison officers from serving at one station for more than five years.

“This also helps to ensure that an officer does not become a native,” he observed.

“The reshuffle is aimed at integrating local government prisons to the Central Government system. The structure will assist in improving service delivery, efficiency and effectiveness,” Byabashaija added.

Prisons publicist Frank Baine, said the adjustments will enable the officers with accumulated leave to take their leave for effective management of their duties.
