The Chinese New Year 2018 will begin this Friday (February 16)
The New Year is the most important day in the Chinese calendar, according to Chinese ambassador to Uganda Zheng Zhuqiang
The celebrations are characterised by Chinese culture, traditions and norms
To celebrate the New Year, the ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China organised three colourful performances
One of the performances was at the Chinese embassy in Kololo on Friday to launch the celebrations
The second one was at Imperial Royale Hotel for the bigger Chinese Community in Uganda on Saturday
And the third show was at Makerere University on Sunday
Guests were treated to great performances
"The year of the Dog, is a year of deliverance"
The year of the Dog is associated with families getting together.
Kirunda Kivejinja, the Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of East African Community Affairs, was a main guest at the event
China and Uganda have enjoyed diplomatic ties for years
Ambassador Zheng Zhuqiang wished both Chinese and Ugandans to live a better life with the toil of their hands in the New Year 2018
