National Resistance Movement (NRM)
President Yoweri Museveni, the NRM presidential candidate, kicked off his campaign in Buhweju, emphasising that peace remains the bedrock of all progress. Because of this stability, he said, the country can now focus on the “second brick” development. He announced that the Bwizibwera–Nyakambu–Nsiika–Nyakashaka–Nyakabirizi road will be constructed by China Railway 18th Bureau Group, which has already secured sh30 billion for compensation, so works can begin immediately.

Alliance for National Transformation (ANT)

Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) presidential candidate Mugisha Muntu took his anti-poverty campaign to the Busoga sub-region, emphasising the need to strengthen agriculture, tarmac key feeder roads, and boost agro-tourism as a path to regional economic growth.
Residents raised concerns, including persistent drug stockouts in health centres, the need to reduce the number of MPs in Parliament, and the urgent fight against corruption, which they said is undermining service delivery in Bugiri and Namutumba districts. (Photos by Isaac Nuwagaba)
