All my children are in private business except Muhoozi — Museveni

President Yoweri Museveni has said all his children are in private business except Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces.

He said this on Friday (November 28, 2025) while addressing his first campaign rally of the day at Kazo Model Playground in Kazo district.

“In fact, my daughter is here. Patience, come here,” the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party presidential candidate invited his daughter to join him on the podium.

As she rose from her chair and walked towards the podium, Museveni stated: “All my children are in their own things except Muhoozi, who is in government because of his love for the army. He is the one working for your government.”

When the First Daughter slowly ascended the podium, Museveni, who was speaking Runyankole, asked her if she wanted to preach to the mammoth crowd but she shook her head.

“Pastor, do you want to preach to these people?” the President asked his daughter.

When she shook her head, the wide-brimmed hat-wearing leader turned to the crowd and said, “When the pastor completed her studies in Minnesota, she started keeping cattle. She is a cattle keeper, a farmer—she knows everything.”

The incumbent president emphasised that the jobs of creating wealth are there in the country. “She is here,” he said, pointing towards the First Daughter, who was also wearing a hat, long yellow dress and sunglasses.

“And her sisters are also like her [in private business].  My grandchildren have also started following in their parents’ footsteps,” he added.

The NRM presidential candidate said most people think jobs come from the government, which is wrong.

“Government jobs are only 480,000, yet we are 50 million people,” he said, adding that the already established factories in the country are employing 1.3 million people.

“We ask you to vote for NRM because what NRM has done is visible, and we have also told you what it will do,” he told his supporters before proceeding to Nyakasharara Playground in Kiruhura district for his second and final rally of the day.

Museveni took a walk with her daughter at Enkondo in Ntungamo in the morning before going to his first rally in Kazo.

He is campaigning under the theme: “Protecting the Gains, Making a Qualitative Leap into High Middle-Income Status.”

The theme focuses on safeguarding achievements over the past 40 years, such as peace and development, while aiming to propel Uganda to a high middle-income status.

Other gains include wealth creation initiatives, job opportunities, service delivery, market access, as well as East African political federation.
