Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) will soon roll out a track system to help in curbing corruption.

Job Kiija, a Governance Expert at PSFU revealed this while addressing participants at the training of private sector actors on the popularization and use of the corruption reporting facility at the Uganda Institute of Information and Communication Technology (UCIT) Innovation Hub in Nakawa Friday, November 30.

He said that the system is developed to help anybody who wants to report corruption without being victimized.

"When some people report corruption cases to Police, they are sometimes victimized by the suspects after information about their cases is linked. This hinders many people from reporting corruption cases for fear of being victimized," he says,

Kiija added that PSFU decided to invent a system whereby a person can download an App called Enguzi. Ug or visit the website https. corruptionreports.ug and follow the prompts. A toll-free line is also provided.

"After the complaints are put in the system, they are sieved to find out their authenticity," he said.

Kiija said that the corruption reporting facility adheres to a strict policy where information obtained is strictly used for analysis and understanding of corruption trends in Uganda to facilitate advocacy and not for court purposes.

"The system is digitalized in that it can detect the person who tries to delete or deletes any information and at what stage," he said, adding that if anybody falls prey to this act, they will be prosecuted because it’s a crime.

Tomson Ofwono, the Director of Okecho and sons construction Ltd based in Jinja who was one of the participants, said that the corruption system developed by PSFU will help them not to interface with people who record cases when reporting them.

120 participants from four sectors including Tourism and hospitality, Agro-processing Sector, ICT Sector and Construction sector attended the training among the 14 sectors that work with PSFU.
