Vision Group and national university sports body AUUS are toasting to a new long-term agreement, with both parties keen on the next chapter of what has already been a strong relationship.

Vision Group is the official media partner for AUUS following the agreement signed at the Vision Group headquarters.

AUUS president Peninah Kabenge and Vision Group CEO Don Wanyama signed the deal at a brief function full of pleasantries about the past and excitement about the future.

"As Vision Group we are very excited that we are making this relationship formal because our mission as Vision Group is to make sure that we put out content that will believe advances society and sports is a very important aspect of society’s progress,” said Wanyama.

“The cohabiting has been long,” said Kabenge, comparing the deal between the two parties to an overdue marriage ceremony.

University sports has been a breeding ground for some of Uganda's top sports stars. Joshua Cheptegei, Halima Nakaayi, and Winnie Nanyondo all did valuable time in university sports competitions.

"We take universities as a catchment area for the growth of talent but also for the growth of our audiences," observed New Vision managing editor David Mukholi.

AUUS has a membership of 34 universities, totalling around 300,000 students, and is marking 30 years in existence this year.

AUUS treasure hailed the sacrifices of individual universities in developing sports and welcomed the partnership with Vision Group because, among other things, "it will help us highlight how much Universities are investing in sports because a lot of information is not known".
