Sentamu, Miguel, and Sebuguzi win in Nairobi

Uganda started Day one of the FIM Central Africa Motocross Challenge in Nairobi Saturday with a great performance winning several podiums in their respective classes.

This gave hope and confidence to the Uganda officials that the team will defend the title they won in 2019. 

The 2020 and 2021 editions were not held due to Covid 19 pandemic outbreak that led to a total lockdown globally and the suspension of social gatherings.

In the 50 ccc category, Jude Musedde and Filbert Muwonge got a podium finish in the second and third positions respectively, in a race won by a Kenyan racer.

Ashraf Mbabazi got a podium in the MX veteran category finishing second behind Kenya’s Fredrick Yongo.

In the 65cc class, Miguel Katende and Jonathan Katende finished first and third respectively, and in the 85cc class, Gift Sebuguzi won the heat.

In the MX125cc class, Waleed Omar came second, behind Kenya’s Neo Wahome and Milton Akaki came third.

In the MX2 class, Kylan Wekesa put up a big fight and came second behind Kenya’s Masalule Kituyi, while in the MX1 class, Fortune Sentamu was a class part Apolo Mbuki with a three-hundred-meter gap, the first ever for Mbuki to lose at Jamhuri park.

“It was a good day, I came to have fun and I think I am and the bike is good. We shall take it the same way tomorrow,” Fortune Sentamu said.

For Kylan Wekesa said,” We had a good start, but a few mistakes led us to finish second but we shall fight back tomorrow in the remaining two heats.”
