Olila Women’s Football Club bounces back to play in the FUFA Women’s Super League after a one-year struggle.
The final game that attracted hundreds of supporters across the region confirmed their return to the top tier of the FUFA Women’s Football League on Sunday at Olila High School grounds after a 3-0 win over Gyco FC.
The goals that came from Daphne Doreen Apio, Dorcus Lwalisa, and Mary Lotyang Elgonda were recorded in the 20th, 30th, and 40th minutes.
Under the guidance of coach Cifu Pande, the team worked tirelessly to ensure that the club obtained 33 points and 27 goals ahead of their rivals Byafaayo Queen with 24 points and 24 goals in Victoria Group that enabled the club to reclaim their position at the FUFA Women’s Super League come 2024-2025 season
"My dream was to see the team return to play in the FUFA Women’s Super League next season, which the players have achieved. I am pretty confident that we shall get the ball rolling when the league opens," Pande said.
Pande admitted that his side did not perform well last season in the FUFA Women’s Super League causing the team's demotion to the FUFA Women’s Elite League.
Francis Okongel, the Chief Executive Officer of Olila said the club is fully prepared to face the new season to lift the FUFA Women's Super League next trophy.
“Where we are heading again is a bit tricky, but we shall try our best to make sure that the team does not perform badly,” said Deogracious Olila, the brain behind Olila Women’s Football Club.
According to Olila, the players will be attached to pre-season friendlies with different teams within the region ahead of the Super League next season.
