Sunny Kaija handed his side an early lead in the 28th minute, in what turned out to be the only goal of the game.
UMU have now joined Makerere University Business School (MUBS) and Kampala University as two-time UFL winners having won it also in 2017 after beating MUBS 2-0 at Namboole Stadium.
The win for UMU means that SLAU will have to wait again for next year given the fact this was the second time they were losing the final, the first one being in 2019 when they lost 2-1 to Uganda Christian University (UCU).
UCU won the third-place playoff 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw.
