The Boxing Day motocross race in Busiika was a rehearsal for the competition in Fortportal on New Year’s Eve.

Over 60 racers are expected in the Tourism City for the historical event at Kyakaigo Sports Arena, Ali Omar Snr. disclosed this to Vision Sport after the Boxing Day Sprint in Busiika on Monday.

“This has been a mouthwatering race and expect the best in Fortportal come Saturday, December 31,” Omar said.

“If you look at this competition in this class, and that of the 85cc,” expect a stiffer competition and exciting race in Fortportal on New Year’s Eve and next season.”

He explained that they are focused on building a stronger Ugandan team next season and that is why we are allowing racers to improve their racing skills in the different terrains.

The Busiika track is on a flat terrain with big jumps and much sand, the Garuga track is a dry hard track like Kasanje while Fortportal is on a hilly sloping terrain with soft soil.

In Busiika, racers Waleed Omar, Milton Akaki, and African Champion Gift Sebuguzi in the MX125 cc class then Alon Orland and Fortune Sentamu in the combined MX2, and MX1 class left fans yearning for more.

It was a battle of KTM versus GasGas bikes as Sebuguzi riding a KTM took on Omar and Akaki racing the GasGas bikes.

The trio kept fans screaming their voice out in support of their favourite racer every lap that could pass.

Akaaki won the first heat and Waleed took the second heat in what was a neck-to-neck race before another battle between Fortune Sentamu and Alon Orland.

However, it is not over till Saturday in Fortportal at the Kyakaigo Sports Arena.

It is the first-time motocross will head to Tourism City and fans will be able to see their race on their home turf.

Sekamwa brothers Larry and Noel in the 65 and 50cc class respectively face stiff opposition from other racers including the Musedde brothers, Katende brothers, Ramathan Mubiru, Ashraf Mbabazi, and Austin Asiimwe.
