UCU Lady Cardinals suffered their first defeat in the FUFA Women Super League as they went down 1-0 to an in-form Kampala Queens on Saturday in Mukono.

UCU coach Collins Ahumuza has promised to see to it that they improve in their next games.

“We played well as a team. We just need to improve on different aspects of the game. We were playing the table leader so the game was not easy. We missed chances which we should have utilised but we shall improve,” noted Ahumuza.

Margret Kunihira’s first-half goal saw Kampala Queens pick up their fifth consecutive victory in the league in as many games.

They are top with 15 points, followed by UCU and Uganda Martyrs with 10 but UCU is ahead on goal difference.

Kampala Queens assistant coach Alimiah Kato Ssenyange hailed the character of his players.

“We worked as a team but at the same time, we defended well. We were playing a good side but we managed to pick up a victory away from home,” noted Ssenyange.

Elsewhere, Brenda Munyana and Kevin Nakacwa were on target as Uganda Martyrs beat Makerere University 2-0 in Rubaga while Norah Alupo, Lydia Nyandera, and Babirye Oliva were on target as Lady Doves defeated Gafford 3-0 in Masindi.
