NIC and Prisons became the first Ugandan teams to secure semifinal slots at the ongoing East Africa Netball Club Championship taking place at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi, Kenya.

Heading into the match, Prisons faced uncertainty over their qualification chances, with several possible outcomes still in play. Knowing that even a draw could boost their hopes of reaching the semifinals, the team stepped onto the court determined to avoid leaving anything to chance.

For NIC, qualification was already assured regardless of the result, but the defending champions were aiming to complete the group stages unbeaten,  a target that eventually slipped away.

Prisons started strongly and showed clear intent from the opening whistle. Within the first five minutes, they had raced to a 6-0 lead, forcing NIC coach to make an early tactical change by replacing goal attacker Rachael Nanyonga with Vicky Nantumbwe.

Prisons maintained their intensity throughout the first half and went into the break leading 22-19.

The second half proved equally challenging for NIC, as Prisons held their composure to secure a 45-41.
