Uganda, Vietnam seal deals in ICT, agriculture

President Museveni is in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, for bilateral discussions with his counterpart, Phuc and other official engagements.

ICT minister Dr Chris Baryomunsi signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with his Vietnam counterpart Nguyen Manh Hung.

HANOI - Uganda and Vietnam have agreed to co-operate in many areas of information and communications technology (ICT), as well as agriculture.

Today, November 24, 2022, ICT minister Dr Chris Baryomunsi signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with his Vietnam counterpart Nguyen Manh Hung.

Baryomunsi said in a tweet that the two countries agreed to co-operate in many areas of ICT.

“The signing was witnessed by the two Presidents Yoweri Museveni of Uganda and Nguyen Xuan Phuc of Vietnam,” he said.

The two presidents also witnessed agriculture minister Frank Tumwebaze signing a MoU with the college of agricultural sciences of Vietnam representing their ministry of agriculture.

Tumwebaze also tweeted that the MoU covers areas of tech transfer, research support and capacity building.

President Museveni is in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, for bilateral discussions with his counterpart, Phuc and other official engagements.

He arrived in Hanoi on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, for a three-day official visit at the invitation of President Phuc.

Museveni is also expected to attend the first-ever Uganda-Vietnam business summit and trade exhibition which started on November 23, 2022, and will run until November 26, 2022, at the Hilton Opera in Hanoi.

It is being held under the theme: Unlocking Investment Opportunities.
