The Clerk to Parliament, Adolf Mwesige, has advised Parliament staff to live within their means.

He asked them to desist from getting huge loans that leave them in debt for most of their work life.

Mwesige remarked during the Parliament Staff Annual General Meeting on Tuesday.

The former minister also advised them to start planning for their retirement rather than wait for later.

"You are sure that your retirement age will be 60 years, and by that time, perhaps, you will be prepared to leave. If you are not prepared, you have yourself to blame and nobody else because preparing is planning.

“Nobody is going to plan your future for you. It is your job to plan your future and that of your family. Planning doesn’t depend on how much you earn, but on the plans you have,” Mwesige told the staff members.
