The Orthodox Metropolitan of the Holy Metropolis of Kampala and Western Uganda, His Eminence Archbishop Jeronymos Muzeeyi has praised the Bible Society of Uganda (BSU) for its great contribution to Christian evangelism.

“We acknowledge with great appreciation your dedication and selfless service. Through your ministry of translating, publishing and distributing Bibles, you have made the Word of God accessible to all people. We promise to support you. We are not rich in monetary terms, but we are rich in the spirit,” said Muzeeyi.

He made the remarks during his courtesy visit to the headquarters of the Bible Society of Uganda on Bombo Road, in Kampala, on Wednesday (March 23).

Archbishop Muzeeyi thanked the General Secretary of the Bible Society, Simon Peter Mukhama and the organization’s Board of Governors for their infrastructure development initiatives, in particular the new Bible House, which is currently under construction.

Earlier, Simon Peter Mukhama (the General Secretary of the Bible Society) briefed Metropolitan Muzeeyi and his delegation about the progress of the sh31bn New Bible House project (the monument for the golden jubilee of the Bible Society of Uganda), which he said, will be completed and handed over to the Bible Society in December (2022).

Mukhama later took Metropolitan Muzeeyi and his delegation through a tour of the site of the New Bible House.

During the function, a number of Orthodox Christians offered to pay sh1m and become life members of the Bible Society.

Those who made the pledge include Fr. John Kibuuka Bbosa, Fr. Paul Mutaasa and Rev. Sr. Pelagia Zawedde. Several other Christians bought items such as the fundraising cups, in support of the New Bible House project.
