Speaking at the event, the president expressed happiness upon learning that Tororo Cement owners have donated to the community the school, churches, and health facilities.

"I am happy, I didn’t know that the owners of Tororo Cement were behind this development, you are most welcome in Uganda. Idi Amin made a mistake of chasing Asians, but we, the indigenous people have no problem with Indians,’’ he said.

Museveni recounted a story of the Indian community back then in his village in Ankole and how they played a big role in complementing cattle keepers with tradable items.

‘’These Indians were neither cattle keepers nor farmers, but they were traders, they were selling what we did not have. I used to sell milk to them and I would give it to Budala (Abdallah),’’ he said.

The President told the Indians that Ugandans have got real partners in Indians and commended them for bringing skills and contributing to the development.

‘’I'm bringing this little story to show you that in Uganda, you have got real partners you can bring the skills. Some people like Maljibhai and Mehta have contributed a lot,’’ he added.
