A mob in Katoogo, Lyantonde rural sub-county in Lyantonde district, has killed Herbat Alinayitwe that was accused of allegedly murdering two of his children.

Alinayitwe allegedly dumped his children ― a girl, 3, and a boy, 4, ― in a dam belonging to one Mzee Lwamanya of Katonga village.

He succumbed to his injuries from the attack and his body was dumped in the same dam by the mob.

The Police later removed the three bodies from the dam and took them to Lyantonde Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.

Katoogo LC1 chairperson, Perezi Mwesigye, blamed the children’s mother whom he accused of abandoning the children to start new a life.

Mwesigye appealed to the government to train people on how to control their anger and how to handle their families and to also train the youth who don’t want to work and leave their responsibilities to women.

Greater Masaka Police spokesperson, Muhamad Nsubuga, condemned mob justice and added that the Police is hunting all those that participated in Alinayitwe’s murder for justice to take its course.
