The western region rugby league enters the semifinal playoffs stage with a mouthwatering encounter between rivals Mbarara Titans and MUSTangs, the highlight of the weekend action.

The two were pitted against each other at this stage following Titans' smooth run of two double wins over Kigezi Silverbacks that put them top of the Ankole group and MUSTangs double loss to the Tooro Lions that saw them finish second in the Buddu group.

And while Tooro Lions, who have proved too strong this time round, will find a possibly easy task against the Kigezi Silverbacks in the first semifinal, the encounter between the Titans and MUSTangs will go beyond the semifinal to a meeting to prove the king of Mbarara.

“It is not going to be an easy game, but we shall go for it like it’s a final because we want to prove our worth in the game in Mbarara,” Said Titans captain Asa Muhanguzi.

Muhanguzi made a return from injury in the side’s 47-06 beating of Kigezi Silverbacks over the weekend in Kabale, where he made 3 tries, and on Saturday, he will be the man to look for Titans attacks.

The semifinal winners will again meet in the grand finale to determine the regional champions for the season 2023 on a date yet to be named.
