WAKISO - The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has held talks with the Belgian Ambassador to Uganda, Hugues Chantry.
The army has revealed that the meeting, hosted on Friday, November 28th at the Special Forces Command Headquarters in Entebbe, focused on strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations between the two nations and security cooperation.
During the engagement, the CDF called for the continuation of the good relationship between Uganda and Belgium at all levels, underscoring the importance of sustained diplomatic and defence engagement.
A release from the Directorate of Communications at the Ministry of Defence and Veterans' Affairs states that General Kainerugaba and his guests also discussed the regional security landscape.
They analysed the ongoing stabilisation efforts in Somalia under the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), Operation Shujaa in the Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and peacebuilding initiatives in South Sudan.
Highlighting the transnational nature of these conflicts, the CDF called upon the Belgian delegation to deepen its collaboration with Uganda in order to address some of these security challenges.
