The Forum for Democratic Change is pushing for a law, restraining a cabinet minister from serving as a Member of Parliament.

Currently, business in parliament is being affected by the absence of Cabinet ministers who cannot present government business in time and at the same time represent their constituencies in the same house.

Harold Kaija, Deputy Secretary-General of Forum  for Democratic Change said it was time to restrain cabinet members from holding parliamentary posts in order for them to be able to serve well.

He said it was high time  Ugandans asked these cabinet ministers why they pick money without serving the people.

Kaija made the remarks while addressing a party weekly press conference at the party headquarters in Kampala on Monday (July 11, 2022)

He said Government should empower the local companies to do business than imposing new taxes that affect our people. He said if Roko construction was a local company the situation would be different.

“After giving Roko good deals you are giving them more money. You are telling people of Uganda that government is buying 150,000 shares from Roko”, Kaija said.

He alluded that the same government sold public companies very cheaply.

“I have always told the people of Uganda that those managing this country want to keep us at the back” he said.

He said local companies like the Mulowoza and brothers, Mukalazi. Sembule Steel mills, Zimwe Construction were not bailed out when they needed support.
