The Police in the Greater Bushenyi Region are inquiring into an incident in which a man in Buhweju district hacked his wife to death on Monday.

Wilbroad Kakuru purportedly murdered his first wife Margaret Kafureeka, 45, a resident of Kiruruma village, Kyeyare Parish, Rwengwe sub-county.

The case is registered as Buhweju; Murder CRB 225/2022 at Bushenyi Police. Police say the incident occurred at 1:00 am. Police have branded the case a result of aggravated domestic violence.

The second wife Jane Mbabazi alerted Police, but it was too late to effect the arrest.

“After killing her, he fled to the home of his second wife one Jane Mbabazi and informed her of what had transpired prompting her (Mbabazi) to register a case at Buhweju Central Police Station,” according to a Police statement.

The deceased’s body was taken to Nsiika Health 1V for postmortem as investigations continue.
