Army account

Army spokesperson Brig. Gen. Felix Kulayigye said the suspect was trailed, but upon reaching his village in Makuutu, Iganga district, the operatives approached the area LC1 chairperson before they went to the suspect’s rented bedsit.

Kulayigye added that when they reached the perpetrator’s doorway, security accompanied by the area LC1 chairperson, knocked on his door but he declined to open it.

It is further reported that the suspect, was later overheard warning the security not to force their way in as he was willing to open it for them in peace.

In the process, he (the suspect) allegedly opened fire at Pte. Isaac Tumusiime hence injuring him.
