RWAMPARA - Rwampara district health officer Dr Allan Twesigomwe has been arrested over allegations of forgery and mismanagement of funds meant for Village Health Team (VHTs) activities and primary health care funds. 

Twesigomwe was arrested on Monday evening by the office of the Rwampara Resident District Commissioner and is detained at Nyeihanga Police station, pending investigations. 

RDC Jane Muhindo said they acted on reports from the chief administrative officer (CAO) to have Twesigome arrested and investigated. 

She added that CAO’s office and hers (RDC) have been receiving complaints for non-payment of an undisclosed amount of money for VHTs and LC1 leaders for the activities they carried out during COVID-19 mobilisation as well as facilitation during Polio I (one), Polio II (two) and Measles-Rubella activities. 

Muhindo also mentioned that the suspect allegedly made requisitions for primary health care funds meant for staff allowances, but never paid to the rightful owners, but instead allegedly paid ghost people who signed on the behalf of health workers.
