University of Kisubi celebrates charter

Members of the fraternity of the University of Kisubi (UNIK) are in a celebratory mood following the university’s acquisition of its long-awaited charter.

Bro. Dr. Deo Mugema, the Vice-Chancellor, confirmed the good news, which he said, was received by members of the university’s fraternity with gratitude and thanksgiving.

“We have finally got the charter. We have received a letter from the National Council for Higher Education informing us that our request for a charter has been granted. All we are waiting for is the signature of His Excellency the President,” Mugema said.

After receiving the good news, the students, lecturers and managers of UNIK assembled at the chapel of the Brothers of Christian Instruction (at Ksubi) for a thanksgiving mass, which was presided over by the university’s chaplain, the Rev, Fr Angelo Ssemugooma, who paid tribute to all those that have worked hard to ensure that the charter is granted.

Ssemugooma later put it to students and staff of the UNIK to work even harder to ensure the university lives up to the standards of a chartered university.
