Shilling maintains upper hand on Wednesday

The Uganda shilling maintained its upper hand against the dollar as demand pockets were outmatched by healthy flows throughout the day, traders said.

The local currency closed the day's session at highs of 3685/3695 from the day’s opening of 3693/3703. 

Overnight yields in the money markets were at averages of 10.41% and markets were fairly liquid according to Absa.

The Bank of Uganda held a treasury bill auction Wednesday and yields in the 91-day, 182-day and 364-day tenors cleared at averages of 11.461%, 12.300% and 14.502% respectively.
