President Yoweri Museveni will next month address the 3rd Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) youth continental symposium, officials from the Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement.

The 3rd APRM youth symposium will be hosted by Uganda from July 4-9, 2022 under the theme, ‘AU@20: Repositioning the Youth Agenda for a Transformative Continent,’ at Speake Resort Munyonyo.

“The one-week symposium will be opened by H. E. the President of the Republic of Uganda, who will give a key-note address.

The symposium will also be addressed by Rt. Hon. Prime Minister of Uganda, renowned and eminent scholars, successful business and political leaders sourced from different parts of the world; covering the strategic issues of leadership, governance and peace, entrepreneurship, regional and continental integration using design-thinking tools in an ideological setting,” OPM officials noted in a statement.

Uganda in partnership with the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) continental secretariat, the African Governance Architecture and other development partners is organising the symposium that aims at equipping youth with governance and leadership skills.

“This is a follow up of the Second APRM Youth Symposium on strengthening Youth participation in Governance processes towards a Universal ascension that took place in September 2021 in Nairobi, Kenya.

The objective of the Symposium is to empower the youth in governance, leadership and development.

The Symposium will attract participation from representatives of the Governments, public and private organizations and institutions as well as key policymakers involved in the youth affairs, development partners working in AU member states,” OPM officials added.

The APRM was established in 2003 by the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) as a tool for African leaders to share experiences, re-enforce best practices, identify deficiencies and assess their capacity, achievements and failures, especially on the governance question.
