MTN, YOTV unveil redesigned app to support content creators

KAMPALA - MTN Uganda in partnership with YOTV has launched a new state-of-art video streaming app aimed at supporting content creators, therefore, entertaining the public.

The new app expands its current offering from a few options to a large variety of live and video-on-demand content covering over 60 live television channels, over 50 live radio stations, 140 artists and comedians, music and over 2000 movies, among others.

The app evolves into super entertainment with several new products including; Boligo Extra which is all about Ugandan music, comedy, and reality shows.

Also, Omuto, a product designed for kids’ edutainment, Kibanda Express, a Uganda movies platform and a new channel eMikolo to showcase captivating events for the Ugandan audience.

Susan Kayemba, MTN Uganda Senior Manager for Digital services said that their partnership with YOTV is hinged on MTN’s mission to champion local content consumption by offering clients a seamless yet convenient and affordable platform.

“The potential of YOTV channels to take local content to the world is absolutely unbeatable. With the newly unveiled products, we are optimistic that more people will enjoy more Ugandan content. As MTN, we are here to support Uganda innovations and YOTV is the epitome of this,” said Kayemba.

She further noted that the YOTV subscription comes with data so customers enjoy more tv anytime, anywhere.

“The MTN and YOTV partnership s underpinned by MTN’s commitment to leading digital innovations for Africa’s progress as enshrined in its ambition 2025,” she highlighted.

The Chief Executive Officer, YOTV Channels, Aggrey Mugisha, said the launch of the new YOTV Channels app follows many months of hard work and considerable investment that has gone into the development of a new product and improved customer experience.

“YOTV app now has the greatest collection of content that includes movies, live TV and radio, music, comedy, motivational podcasts, kids entertainment and much more,” he said.

“Our local video-on-demand options are unrivalled, we could not have done all this without our great partner MTN and our brilliant content creators. We are thus excited to engage with more content creators to walk with us on this journey,” Mugisha explained

He further said the YOTV app involves the setup of a dedicated data center which has boosted capacity for their customers to rewind and catch up on missed live up to 4 days in the past while being able to record unlimited future content.

The data center has also expanded concurrent usage capacity on the app which creates a smoother experience for users.

YOTV channel App was launched in February 2020 right in the wake of COVID-19 global pandemic phenomenon.
