Ayota appointed acting managing director for NSSF
The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) board has appointed Patrick Ayota as the caretaker Managing Director for the sh17 trillion fund.
“The process leading to the appointment of the managing director has taken longer. In the interim, deputy managing director will care take this office until these processes are concluded,” Patrick Ocailap, the Deputy Secretary to the Treasury and a board member, issued the statement on behalf of the board chairperson, Dr Peter Kimbowa.
Richard Byarugaba, the NSSF Managing Director and Ayota were contracted by the then appointing authority, minister of finance Matia Kasaija, on October 30, 2017, for a five-year tenure.
Ayota was recently re-appointed the Deputy MD, a position he has held since 2017. He joined NSSF in July 2011.
He is also currently the board chairperson of Vision Group.
He was previously the chief financial officer, a position he held for six years until November 2017. Ayota has been at the forefront of various projects at the fund, which he steered successfully.
Prior to joining the fund, he was the finance director for Barclays Bank (Uganda). He has extensive experience in accounting and finance management that has been attained in various roles in Uganda and USA.
Ayota is a certified Public Accountant (CPA). He holds an MBA from the University of South Carolina (USA) and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from Liberty University, Virginia (USA).
