Armed Forces Motocross Championship to focus on environment

Local racers are ready to represent Uganda effectively in the fourth coming Armed Forces Motocross Challenge on Sunday.

Armed Forces Motocross Championsship 

Protection of the environment is top of the agenda for the organisers of the Armed Forces Motocross Challenge.

This was disclosed by Barak Orland at the launch of the track that will host the event on Saturday and Sunday in the Busiika Luwero district.

"I thank the organiser of this event. I thank them for the perfect track and we are ready to represent our country as we gauge our strength against the foreign racers," Team Uganda captain Wazir Omar told the media.

According to Julius Bukenya, the event technical director, the redesigned track is 1.8km -2km and very safe for the racers.

The event started on Wednesday with several activities including tree planting as a sign of promoting environmental protection.

He added that eighty racers and 13 foreign racers from countries including the USA, South Africa, Belgium, Cyprus, and Israel have confirmed their participation and arriving in the country today.

 

Dusman Okee, the former Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) president lauded Barak Orland and the team for initiating the project to appreciate the forces for the good job done.

UPDF Deputy Spokesperson, Colonel Deo Akiiki lauded Barak Orland and the Motocross family for appreciating the forces.

“This is the first of it is kind in this country for the civilians to appreciate the forces. It started in 2019 and we received sh100m plus medals. We shall support this event and it will be annual,” Akiiki said.

He added that on top of the main event which is motocross, there will be Go-Karts, airplane shows, paratroopers, and other activities suitable for families at the Extreme adventure park. 

The event is supported by Vision Group, Stanbic Bank, Mountain Dew, BAR Aviation, and Extreme Adventure park.
