Regional League sides Kisugu United and Kiyinda Boys are through to the round of 32 in the Stanbic Bank Uganda Cup at the expense of Uganda Premier League(UPL) sides Maroons and Gaddafi FC.
Kiyinda Boys edged Gaddafi 1-0 whereas Kisugu Utd defeated Maroons 2-1 at Coffee Grounds in Bugolobi.
However, UPL outfit Blacks Power advanced as well after a 1-0 hard-fought win over Bukedea Central at Emokori Grounds in Bukedea.
In another shocking victory, Kisoro-based Gorilla Highland FC eliminated Big League side Kataka following a 2-0 win at Mashaka Play Ground.
Kisugu, Kiyinda, Gorilla Highland, and Blacks Power have joined Villa, Police, Vipers, BUL, Kitara, Ndejje University, Jinja North United, Admin, Junior Eagles, Pajule Lions, and Blue Stars who have already qualified for the Round of 32.
Action in the Stanbic Bank Uganda Cup continues today as Mbale Heroes take on Araka FC, Kigezi Home boys host Booma FC, Simba visits Adjumani, Water FC and Lugazi, while JLOS entertains Busoga United as Fort Portal Boda Boda FC hosts Wakiso Giants.
This season’s prize money courtesy of Stanbic Bank and Kansai Plascon is sh180m with the winner walking away with sh50m. The runners up will take home sh25m, while the semi-finalists will receive sh12.5m each. The quarter-finalists will get sh6m each, while the teams that finish in the round of 16 will go home with sh3m each. Those that will reach round of 32 will earn sh2m each.
