Nakasongola: A bus bound for Kampala from Arua city has been involved in a crash that reportedly claimed the lives of four people at Migyera in Nakasongola district.

The bus, which is to have been transporting pilgrims to Namugongo, is reported to have left Arua at 9:30 pm on Thursday for Kampala but rammed into a truck.

Peter Thoriek, who was traveling in another bus, said: “By the time we reached Migyera, we found Police using a grader to evacuate the bodies that were trapped in the bus," he said.

He said the crash occurred at about 4:00 am and that some survivors were evacuated to different medical facilities.

The number of crash survivors had not been established by the time of publishing this story.

Thoriek said the bus knocked the truck that was carrying charcoal at the back as it negotiated to overtake the bus.

However, reports also indicate that the truck had no reflectors at the back, something which might have led to the crash.
