HARVEST MONEY | EXPO | SOLAR 

KAMPALA - Joshua Ajay, a salesperson with Reliefline Uganda Limited, located at Oxford Station building in Kampala, is a promoter of the Ajay Solar Water Heaters. 

Ajay was at their stall at the Harvest Money exhibition explaining to expo-goers how the heaters work. 

According to him, one heater has the capacity to store 150 litres of water and once heated, it preserves the water hot for 24 hours at 30 degrees.

The heater can also connect to the hydro power grid. 

It is a hybrid water heater that one can simply connect to the tank. The flat plate heater costs sh2m and the tube type goes for sh1.85m. 

The difference between the two is that the tube type heats water faster and one can continue using the other tubes just in case one has a fault but the flat plate one is more durable.

The heaters have a tank made out of stainless steel and accessories made out of brass, which do not rust. 

The difference between these heaters that were on display from the others on the market is that many rust because of exposure to water. Ajay said the company designed the heaters using imported raw materials from India. 

The company also deals in solar batteries called the Ajay Solar 200AH Tubular Inverter, which restore energy so that one does not need carry out regular maintenance.

The 200AH Tubular type costs sh850,000 and the 100AH costs sh480,000.

The expo took place from February 10 -12, at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, under the theme, Farming as a business-post Harvest Handling and Value Addition and was sponsored by the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Agriculture Ministry, National Agricultural Advisory Services(NAADS), Pepsi, Engineering Solutions Ltd(ENGSOL), RIELA/UPFRONT, Agricultural Credit faculty, Uganda warehouse Receipt Systems Authority, Champrisa International and State House.
