Body of murdered Mbarara cub driver recovered in Luweero

POLICE | MURDER | TWIINE                      MBARARA - Homicide detectives spent the greatest part of Wednesday (April 21, 2021) afternoon reconstructing a murder scene where a body of a special hire taxi driver was dumped in Luweero district. Criminal Investigation Directorate spokesperson Charles Mansio Twiine said the detectives (homicide) were combing for evidence to pin the two suspects arrested over the murder of James Ahimbisibwe, who operated in Mbarara district.  Until his disappearance, Ahimbisibwe, operated at Buremba stage in Mbarara city, where he was allegedly kidnapped, killed and his captors dumped his body in a swamp.  The Police’s flying squad arrested Simon Rutasimbwa and his accomplice only identified as sonko, over the crime.  According to Twiine, the two have since confessed to have killed the driver and dumped the body in a swamp in Luwero.He said the assailants approached the deceased and asked to be dropped somewhere, a place the deceased was familiar with but midway they killed him and later dumped the body in Luwero  “They also took the police to the exact location where the body was dumped,” said Twiine.  On April 7, Police authorities in Luweero recovered a decomposing body from a swamp and later buried it in Kasana hospital cemetery.  “When they (suspects) narrated their story and took us to the exact spot, the body was, it (the description) was consistent with that of a body our officers had earlier picked. We also viewed their movement on our cameras on the highway from Mbarara to Kampala, and then Luwero and we found it matching,” he said. 

On April 7, Police authorities in Luweero recovered a decomposing body from a swamp and later buried it in Kasana hospital cemetery.

According to Twiine, the two have since confessed to have killed the driver and dumped the body in a swamp in Luwero.
