KAMPALA - Emmanuel Ogwang, who was set to join Kyambogo University, has been missing for a fortnight.

According to Alice Aduni, a mother of two, her son disappeared on March 26, 2021 after he was assigned by Micro Credit for Development and Transformation, (MCDT) to go and collect money from a group of women who had received a loan at Kyengera, near Kampala.

Before Ogwang disappeared, the 21-year-old was working as a field officer for MCDT, a co-operative savings and credit society in Mengo, a Kampala suburb.

“I learnt about the disappearance of my son at about 6:30pm when Susan Mary Nsubuga, the human resources officer of MCDT, called me, asking if Ogwang had reached home.

Since I had not yet reached home, I asked what had happened. It looked like thugs had kidnapped him and stolen the money and the motorcycle,” Aduni narrated.

Crying uncontrollably in front of journalists at New Vision head offices in Kampala, Thursday (April 15, 2021), Aduni said after five days of looking for her son, she reported the disappearance case under reference number d2,29,03,2021 to Bukasa Police post.

“Though I am torn apart, whether my son is dead or alive, I want to see him. I am suffering so much. I cannot sleep or eat. Besides that, when I broke the news to my younger son about his brother’s disappearance, he is also devastated. I request the Police to help me track the motorcycle and find my son,” Aduni said.

She has also requested all the Good Samaritans who could have seen her son to either contact her or the Police.

Aduni, a resident of Bukasa, a Kampala suburb, said her husband died in 2013.

Since the SAACOS has been tracing the whereabouts of Ogwang, Cissy Namukwaya, the operations manager of MCDT, said they will be grateful if the Police finds him.

According to Namukwaya, Ogwang disappeared after he had gone to Kyengera to meet clients.

“The day he disappeared, we received calls from a client he was working with, saying he had lost a motorcycle. We went to the scene to rescue him, but we didn’t find him. That evening, we called his family and notified them about his disappearance,” Namukwaya said.
