The management of Lira Market Taxi Stage Operators Association has imposed a fine of sh50,000 and sh200,000 on any trader or driver found guilty of misconduct.

This resolution was agreed upon in a meeting held on Wednesday, 14 April, which attracted all the Lira drivers who transport traders to mobile markets in Lango, and parts of Teso and Acholi.

Among many forms of miscounts cited include overloading and over speeding, use of vulgar language by the traders and poor dress code.

It was resolved that any driver who will be found over-speeding and overloading will pay a fine of sh200,000.

Under the new rule, any trader proven guilty of using vulgar language will be fined sh50,000.

The new rules take effect on May 1, 2021.

Patrick Opio Obote, the chairman Lira Mobile Market Traders Association says, they hope the fine will help bring the traders to order and reduce the rate of road accidents.
