President Yoweri Museveni has described the passing away of Owobusobozi Bisaka as a huge loss to the Faith of Unity and the country.

“The passing away of Owobusobozi Bisaka has robbed the Faith of Unity and the entire country of a dedicated spiritual leader who is rare and difficult to replace. He attracted a big following who are dedicated to their faith,” Museveni said in a message delivered by finance minister Matia Kasaija at a function held at Kyarubaija playground, Kapyemi village, in Kagadi district.

Museveni encouraged Faith of Unity believers not to relent, but follow Bisaka’s doctrines of unity and hard work.

Bisaka’s children thanked the President for the support accorded to their father while he was sick.

In their message read by Alinda Akugizibwe, the children said their father was accorded an official send-off which was a great contribution from the Government.

A brief function was held where a few guests were allowed in.

The body was never brought out of the building for public viewing and the actual laying to rest of the body was off-camera.

Sources say the body was embalmed and will be interred in one of the rooms in Bisaka’s villa.

The prayers were led by the head of Bakwenda at Kapyemi, Omukwenda Alinaitwe.

Who is bisaka?

Bisaka was born on June 11, 1930 at Kitoma, Kiboizi in the parish of Bujuni.

He trained as a teacher and his turning point was in 1975, when he reportedly composed a hymn, Nkaikiriza Ruhanga Murungi, and claimed he would be bestowed with supernatural powers.

According to his writings, he heard a voice commanding him: “You shall heal people by touching them.” And from then on he began his work of exorcising demons and evil spirits from possessed people.

What followers say

Omuhereza Ntuha says: “He built a secondary school in Muhorro town council where many parents have educated their children.”
